Walter "Killer" Kowalski passes away
WWE is saddened by the passing of one of wrestling’s most successful and revered stars, WWE Hall of Famer Walter "Killer" Kowalski. He was 81.
Kowalski began his career in sports-entertainment in 1947, and wrestled extensively throughout the world for 30 years.
A devout vegetarian, Kowalski stood taller than most of his opponents in the ring. And, once the bell rang, he had a ruthless and relentless style that mentally helped him reel in victory after victory. He generally finished off his opponents with his signature Iron Claw.
Infamously known as the man who ripped off part of Yukon Eric’s ear during a 1954 match held in Montreal, his prowess within the squared-circle ensured that his opponents be at the top of their games.
Kowalski competed in WWE rings during the 1960s and ’70s, and he and WWE Hall of Famer
Gorilla Monsoon garnered the United States Tag Team Championship in 1963. But, of even more renown, Kowalski was regarded as the toughest challenger to then-WWE Champion Bruno Sammartino, selling out arena after arena up and down the Eastern Seaboard.
During the early 1970s, Kowalski trained a big, strapping individual, who was then known as Chuck O’ Connor. In 1976, the teacher-student combination of Kowalski and O’Connor attired themselves in black masks and tights, calling themselves The Executioners. On May 11 of that year, the duo won the
World Tag Team Championship from Tony Parisi and Louis Cerdan. O’Connor went on to be known as
Big John Studd.
After finishing a stellar career in 1977, the WWE Legend opened the
Killer Kowalski Institute of Professional Wrestling in Malden, Mass., a place where individuals who wanted to pursue a mat career were taught everything and then some. To his credit, the most famous graduate of Kowalski’s school went on to become one of the premier performers in WWE history, current WWE Champion
Triple H.
So, it was only fitting that in 1996 when Kowalski was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, Triple H himself had the honor and privilege of presenting his mentor.
Survived by his wife Theresa, Walter "Killer" Kowalski was a kind gentleman who loved life to the fullest. But inside the ring, he was all business, and certainly one tough individual you did not want to mess with.

WWE Superstars and Divas will be attending the Democratic and Republican National Conventions over the next two weeks as part of our Smackdown Your Vote! efforts to encourage more voters, ages 30 and younger, to vote in this year’s election.
On Monday, WWE will post its version of an online debate between Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain based on their written responses to Smackdown Your Vote!’s national 18-30 Voter Issues Paper (VIP), which outlines the critical issues and questions from younger voters based on national polling.
During the conventions, to promote voter registration, WWE will feed video footage from WWE Superstars’ activities at the conventions into WWE programming, and WWE.com will provide complete convention coverage. In partnership with Cable in the Classroom, WWE also will videotape footage for use in a series of videos for K-12 schools nationwide via Cable in the Classroom’s free, online learning game, eLECTIONS: Your Adventure in Politics. eLECTIONS is a standards-based election simulation being used in classroom’s nationwide featuring content from CNN Student News, C-SPAN and History Channel. Golden one last time, but greatest Olympian ever?
BEIJING (AP)—The last one was a gimme because the
U.S. has never lost this Olympic relay and it seems
Michael Phelps never loses.
Just in case, though, Phelps had his own personal closer,
Jason Lezak, ready to pick up a save in a relay race that would stamp his teammate as the most golden of all Olympians.
It hardly proved necessary because Phelps did the heavy lifting himself this time, swimming past an Australian and a Japanese in the butterfly to hand Lezak a lead he wasn’t about to lose. The only thing left was to celebrate and break out a calculator to add up the medal haul.
Medals don’t lie and Phelps now has an astonishing 14 golds in his career, five more than any Olympian ever. His eight this year alone is just one shy of the most any other Olympian has won total.
Four years from now in London, barring some freak injury or the emergence of another freaky swimmer, Phelps is likely to add to his total.
So now the question becomes, is he the greatest Olympian ever?
The answer to that is no.
Not until he wins even more in London, or does something even more freaky, like pick up a gold in the triathlon.
OK, so maybe the idea of Phelps on a bike or taking a run after a swim is a bit far-fetched. The point is that swimming medals are so plentiful that it’s the only sport where someone can even think of winning more than a handful in any given Olympics.
As good as the U.S. basketball team is, the players will get only one medal when they finish off their Olympic run this week. And as awesome as
Usain Bolt runs, the fastest man on the planet will go home to
Jamaica with no more than three gold medals, for the 100 and 200 meters and the 400 relay.
Phelps was able to win eight golds in nine days because, yes, he’s the greatest Olympic swimmer of all time. It also helped that his toughest race came first in the 400 individual medley and he excelled in events that were spread out at just the right intervals.
But greatest Olympian ever? No.
Give that nod to Carl Lewis, who won nine gold medals over four Olympics, including the long jump four games in a row. Unlike Phelps, Lewis won his medals doing two very different things, using his speed to win the 100 and 200 meters and his leaping ability for the long jump.
He likely would have had even more medals but the United States boycotted the 1980 games in Moscow where Lewis had qualified in the long jump and as a member of the 400 relay team.
“I don’t want to appear to be putting Phelps down,” said David Wallechinsky, the Olympic historian who has literally written the book on the games. “But I need a little more longevity to name him the best Olympian ever.”
The people at NBC would certainly debate that because they built the first week of the Olympics around Phelps’ quest for eight golds, scoring a ratings bonanza that will pale only to the endorsements Phelps will haul in after the games.
But if George Eyser were alive and competing today, the network would have made him a hero, too, if only to tug at America’s heart. Eyser won six medals in 1904 in gymnastics, despite a left leg made of wood after his original one was run over by a train.
Wallechinsky believes a case as the greatest ever could also be made for
Finland’s Paavo Nurmi, who won nine gold medals in middle- and long-distance running in the 1920s. While much has been made of the 17 times Phelps had to swim in these games, he never did anything like Nurmi did when he won both the 1500 meters and 5000 meters within two hours of each other in 1924.
Nurmi would likely have won even more, but he was banned from the 1932 games in Los Angeles on a 13-12 vote by Olympic officials who declared him a professional after he appeared in advertisements.
And who knows what Jesse Owens might have done had world events not denied him the chance to compete past the 1936 games, where he ran and jumped his way to four gold medals under political and racial pressures that Phelps never had to face.
Phelps is a testament to great training, hard work and incredible natural ability. It took 36 years for someone to break the record of seven golds set by Mark Spitz in Munich and this record may be untouchable long after that.
He celebrated Sunday morning at the Water Cube with fists in the air and hugs from teammates. The look on his face was one of triumph mixed with the relief that he had done what some thought was impossible.
Great swimmer, yes. Greatest swimmer ever, OK.
But no matter what NBC tries to tell you, it’s too early to declare him the greatest of all Olympians.

Ikhlas
starting*sahmi,sahmi* today,i will be working at the I-Center,under Ikhlas. i was involved with this kind of project*not trying to make it confidential,i just don't know how to put it in word*. so i-center will be my workplace for the whole month of August. the good news: i will work till friday and will be having my holiday on saturday and sunday. the bad news: i have to bring my work home!!! and i might probably go to work the whole week.im not complaining,i know i will face this like a man*apanya~* this will give me the precious experience that i need.anyway,Ikhlas is a small company under BAG Networks,with a total number of about 7 staff. WWE’s SummerFest is taking over Venice Beach, Calif., this Saturday, August 9 for a FREE all-day event from 11a.m.-5 p.m. This year's SummerFest will include live ring action; performances by Prima J & Omar Cruz; fun, interactive activities for everyone to enjoy; contests and giveaways; and appearances by Chavo Guerrero, Funaki, Tommy Dreamer, Stevie Richards, The Miz, John Morrison, Carlito, Maryse, Jimmy Wang Yang, Eve, Lilian Garcia, Layla, Lena Yada and Candice Michelle. This Saturday's WWE SummerFest is hosted by 2005 Hall of Famer & WWE Legend the “Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart.

charity work...
last sunday,as i have told u,i was involved with the charity bazaar at Pusat Ehsan. now i wanna share with you my feelings.it feels so good to know that what you are doing is for a good cause. to help those unfortunate people,to enable them to continue their life with our support,to be able to cheer them,it really-really makes me feel good.i know im just helping in my booth selling coupons,but after all,it is a charity works right? coz the main reason im volunteering is to help these people.thanx BAG Networks for giving me the chance to help with the charity work. dream lunch?
there's one thing i realise during the attachment. a week has gone since the attachment. dont wanna talk about the attachment. it was fun though,lots of work to do. today was really-really fun. at morning,i attended the Pusat Ehsan Charity Bazaar 2008 on behalf of my company BAG Networks,i.e one of the main sponsors for the event. in our booth,we sold coupons and gave out free ballons,nice~. then at noon,went to lunch with aerol and master francine,good luck on the finding guys(if u know what i mean khai,hoho...) then went to Padang Kebajikan for the ITB Football Tourney. we almost lost our hope when we failed to win our first two matches,but with big heart and determination,we managed to do a comeback and proceeds to the next round. nice work guys~ (i've told u the blend of 3 intakes is a miracle) so we are now the only representative from Department of Business & Finance,we need the support from seniors and juniors,aha... seriously,we do.now i hope we can do better at the next stage,we might probably meet milokutak team,aha... will post some pictures from today's event maybe next week? aha...
